Trump continues tradition of donating White House salary
President Donald Trump saeid he donates 100% of his presidential salary to White house preservation, citing his efforts to fund upgrades and fixes himself, including renovations such as work around the White House’s exterior using materials like black granite. He claimed he was the only president (besides George Washington) to donate his salary, though the article notes that reports show parts of this claim to be untrue. The piece also points out that during his first term in 2017 he donated his first paycheck to the National Park Service and other agencies, and it lists additional preservation work, including a $2 million Rose Garden renovation funded by private citizens and, in his current term, further projects such as adding a White House ballroom.
President Donald Trump said he donates 100% of his presidential salary to preservation projects at the White House.
“I do, much of it goes to the White House preservation and I fix things up, you might have seen the path outside, did you see it? It’s beautiful, I’ll let you take a look at it later. It’s beautiful, beautiful black granite, it was stone that was all broken and in terrible shape, Trump said on Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson on Sunday.
