Trump threatens complete decimation of Iran if assassinated

Trump remarked that Iran considers him a top target for assassination, though he addressed them sarcastically as “lovely people.”

Trump previously told the New York Post that he has left “instructions…to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before,” if Iran kills him. The president issued a public statement to Truth Social hours later, reiterating that 1,000 missiles and “thousands of more” to follow are ready to hit Iran over the course of at least one year if it assassinates him or attempts to do so.

“Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Military is ready, willing, and able, for a one year period of time, subject to extension, to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran – PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!” Trump wrote, finishing with a satirical salute to the Islamist country’s god.
Iran has long made threats against Trump’s life, particularly since he ordered the killing of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Gen. Qassem Soleimani during his first term. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said intelligence indicates Iran was behind both attempts on Trump’s life in 2024. The president’s narrow escape from a sniper’s gunfire at a Butler, Pennsylvania, rally and another assassination attempt at his golf course both originated from Iran, according to the prime minister.
In November 2024, the Justice Department announced it had charged three people in connection with an alleged plot that originated in Iran to kill Trump before the election.
TRUMP ANNOUNCES ‘MASSIVE AND ONGOING OPERATION’ AGAINST IRAN
At Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s funeral this week, large crowds of mourners wished death upon Trump after he launched the war that killed the Islamist figure in February. Crowds could be seen carrying giant scarlet banners reading “Kill Trump,” “Hey Trump, we will kill you,” and “There will be blood” on placards depicting Trump’s image.
“I’m No. 1 on the kill list for Iran,” Trump said during a press conference. “They’re lovely people.”
