New Apple Settlement Could Lead to Up to $395 Payout for MacBook Owners

The deadline to claim upwards of $395 for a payout of up to $400 following an Apple Inc. class-action settlement is fast approaching.

According to the lawsuit, a design flaw in laptops manufactured between 2015 and 2019, led to numerous problems. Apple settled the claims last year. Court documents state that a lawsuit was filed alleging that MacBook laptops made between 2015 and 2019 contained defective keyboards.

The deadline to submit a claim for the settlement for the butterfly keyboard is 11:59 p.m. PST on March 6, or less than three weeks from now according to aa href=”https://secure.keyboardsettlement.com/”>settlement-related Website. If you wish to object to this settlement, the deadline has expired, as it was February 10.

For claim approval, proof of purchase and the serial number of the laptop will be required. This amount is available until Nov. 24, 2024.

If a customer replaced an impacted MacBook keyboard just once, they are eligible for up to $125, it notes. Customers who have replaced key caps on keyboards may be eligible for up to $50

“If you appear in Apple’s records as having received multiple Topcase Replacements, you will receive a summary notice via email or postcard stating that you are a Group 1 Settlement Class Member. Settlement Class Members in Group 1 will receive a payment without the need to submit a claim if the Settlement is approved by the Court and becomes effective,” According to the website.

“If you appear in Apple’s records as having received a single Topcase Replacement or Keycap Replacement, you are a Group 2 or Group 3 Settlement Class Member and will receive an email or postcard with a Unique ID that you can use to complete and submit an Online Claim Form that will be pre-populated with information regarding your claim. You may also download and submit a Paper Claim Form or request one from the Claims Administrator, as described below.”
