Jared Moskowitz launches bid for new Florida seat redrawn by DeSantis
Rep. Jared Moskowitz announced he will run for Florida’s newly drawn 25th congressional district after a state court upheld the GOP-backed map championed by Gov. Ron DeSantis. The district, created from parts of former 23rd, 24th, and 25th districts, is considered a toss-up and expected to be among the most competitive races nationally.
Moskowitz,a former DeSantis appointee,is framing his campaign as a results-focused Democrat willing to work across party lines. Cook Political Report notes the new district includes large Hispanic and Jewish communities, and Moskowitz-who is Jewish-has emphasized opposition to antisemitism and political extremism, citing remarks from within his own party. He also referenced efforts tied to Jewish candidates, including a pledge with another Jewish Democrat to push for expulsion of an antisemitic Texas Democratic candidate.
The article adds that Donald Trump would have won the district by about 9 points in 2024 if the election had been held under the new lines.

The new district saw one of the more extreme shifts under the updated electoral map and contains parts of the former 23rd, 24th, and 25th districts. The Cook Political Report rates the district as a toss-up, and it is expected to be one of the most competitive races in the nation.
