DeSantis presses Florida for swift evacuations for Hurricane Isaias
Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida urged residents to evacuate areas at risk from Hurricane Isaias, which is expected to impact the Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm. The storm is projected to make landfall on the north Gulf Coast on Friday evening, then move toward Alabama. As of mid-afternoon, Isaias was about 125 miles south of Pensacola, florida, and 140 miles from Mobile, Alabama, with tropical storm conditions beginning to affect the shoreline before the hurricane’s landfall.

The Category 3 storm is set to hit the north Gulf Coast on Friday evening before reaching Alabama, according to the National Hurricane Center. As of 3 p.m., Isaias was located about 125 miles south of Pensacola, Florida, and 140 miles south of Mobile, Alabama, with tropical storm conditions spreading onshore before the hurricane is set to make landfall in the evening.
