DeSantis declares state of emergency for Tropical Storm Isaias
Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida declared a state of emergency across 25 counties in western Florida in anticipation of Tropical Storm Isaias, which has been upgraded from a tropical depression. The storm originated as a tropical depression on Tuesday and has the potential to become the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. Forecast models indicate that it’s path will take it eastward then northward, affecting areas from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle. DeSantis signed the emergency order on Tuesday evening while the system was still classified as Tropical Depression Nine.
