Haley criticizes DeSantis’s ‘drama-free Trump’ image in campaign message.

Nikki Haley Criticizes Ron DeSantis in Campaign Message

Nikki Haley, a potential 2024 presidential candidate, has released a campaign message attacking Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The message attempts to dismantle DeSantis’s image as a Trump-like figure “without the drama.”

“Is it Trump or DeSantis?”

Haley’s team sent the message on Tuesday, featuring a “game” called “Is it Trump or DeSantis?” and highlighting DeSantis’s conflict with Disney. The message claims that DeSantis is “running for president” despite not yet entering the 2024 race.

Comparing the Candidates

Haley’s team compared DeSantis to Trump, pointing to two bills he has pushed in Florida. One bill would have made it easier to sue news outlets for “actionable lies,” and another shielded the governor’s travel records from the public. The message also referenced comments made by former teammates in a 2022 New Yorker piece, in which someone called DeSantis “the most selfish person I have ever interacted with.”

“Drama and Petty Political Fights”

The message criticized DeSantis’s leadership style, claiming that it would only lead to more drama. Haley’s campaign also criticized DeSantis’s public speaking presence and his “inability to interact directly with voters.”

Haley’s Vision

Haley’s campaign message stated that she is offering voters a substantive vision for making America strong and proud, even when it deviates from the Trump-DeSantis line.

Trump’s Mudslinging

Trump has been attacking DeSantis since announcing his own presidential bid in November. A Harvard/Harris poll released on May 19 showed Trump leading with 58%, followed by DeSantis with 16% and Haley with 4%.

The Washington Examiner has reached out to DeSantis’s team for comment.
