CNN CEO supports Trump Town Hall: ‘All opinions matter.’

Warner Bros. CEO Defends CNN’s Decision to Host Trump Town Hall

David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, recently spoke out in defense of CNN’s upcoming town hall interview with former President Donald Trump.

Zaslav stated that Trump is a “frontrunner” and deserves airtime on the news network. He appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” program to discuss the Trump town hall scheduled for prime time on May 10, and expressed his happiness that Trump will be appearing on CNN.

As the CEO of a media empire that includes CNN, HBO, and Hollywood studio Warner Bros., Zaslav defended the direction CNN is heading under his leadership. He stated that CNN has the “greatest journalists and the largest group of journalists in the world,” with over 80 people on the ground in Ukraine, Poland, and Russia to report on the ongoing conflict.

Zaslav also emphasized the importance of hearing from both sides of the political debate, especially in a divided government like the United States. He stated that all voices should be heard on CNN, including Republicans and Democrats.

“Our focus is to be a network about the best version of the facts—just as Carl Bernstein would say, great journalism, and not just politics, either. But when we do politics, we need to represent both sides,” Zaslav said.

When asked about CNN’s profitability, Zaslav assured the hosts that CNN can remain profitable while still providing quality journalism. He emphasized that CNN’s focus is on providing the best version of the facts, not just politics.

In conclusion, Zaslav’s defense of CNN’s decision to host Trump’s town hall interview highlights the importance of hearing from both sides of the political debate and providing quality journalism to viewers.
