Boebert to campaign for Massie ahead of tough primary

Rep. lauren Boebert is traveling to Kentucky this weekend to campaign for Rep. Thomas Massie, who faces a contentious May 19 Republican primary against challenger Ed Gallrein, who is backed by President Donald Trump. Boebert has been one of the few GOP lawmakers to publicly support Massie over Trump’s preferred candidate. She will accompany Massie for two events on Friday in Shelby and Oldham counties.

Boebert wrote on X that she supports both Massie and Trump, framing her endorsement as a show of support for America, freedom, and liberty. the race has drawn national attention as Trump has personally pushed to unseat Massie, and pro-Trump groups are spending heavily to defeat the incumbent. Massie has described himself as the “main event” in what he called Trump’s revenge tour, and he has served in Congress for more than a decade, frequently breaking with trump and GOP leadership on issues including spending and efforts related to releasing the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Boebert is one of only a few GOP lawmakers who have publicly supported Massie over the Trump-backed Ed Gallrein. She will join Massie for two events on Friday afternoon in Shelby County and Oldham County, Kentucky.

“Below is my friend Thomas Massie. He loves America and is fighting to save it,” Boebert wrote on X Friday. “Also below is my friend and President, Donald Trump. He’s put his life on the line to save this great country. I support both of these men. I’ve worked with both to preserve freedom and liberty.”

Massie is facing Gallrein in a May 19 primary. The race has drawn national interest, given Trump’s personal push to oust Massie. Groups aligned with the president are spending heavily against the incumbent.

Massie told reporters this week that he’s the “main event” on Trump’s revenge tour.

The Kentucky Republican has served in Congress for over a decade. In that time, he’s broken with Trump and GOP leadership on numerous issues, from spending to the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
