Youngkin attends Nantucket event with influential undecided GOP donor amidst 2024 rumors.

Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s Potential Presidential Bid ‍Gains Momentum

Amidst the political buzz surrounding Gov. Ron DeSantis’ struggle to challenge former President Donald Trump, Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) made a noteworthy appearance at a meet-and-greet donor event in Nantucket, Massachusetts. The‌ event, held⁤ at the home of Robert Reynolds, CEO of Putnam Investments, attracted influential figures like billionaire Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman.

A source familiar with the matter confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Youngkin was indeed present at‌ the event. ‌This information aligns with what Puck News senior political correspondent Tara‍ Palmeri ‌reported on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Interestingly,⁣ Schwarzman, who had previously expressed his opposition to Trump’s 2024‌ bid, has remained undecided in the Republican contest. In an interview with Axios last year, he emphasized the need ‍for the Republican Party to⁢ embrace a new generation of leaders. This shift‍ in support ⁢from a prominent donor was seen‍ as a setback for Trump’s 2024 campaign.

However, despite being perceived as the biggest threat to Trump in the primary, DeSantis failed to secure Schwarzman’s commitment ⁢during a spring meeting in Florida. Adding fuel to the fire, rumors have surfaced suggesting⁣ that media mogul Rupert‍ Murdoch may ‍be losing faith in DeSantis as well.‍ In fact, there have been reports claiming that Murdoch ⁤has been actively encouraging Youngkin⁣ to enter the 2024 race at the eleventh hour.

Last week, ‍The Washington ‌Post revealed that Murdoch and⁣ Youngkin have had at least two in-person conversations discussing the possibility of‍ a presidential run by the Virginia governor. ⁣When approached for comment, a representative for Murdoch declined to provide a statement to the Washington ‍Examiner.

As the political ⁢landscape continues to evolve, all eyes are on Gov. Glenn‍ Youngkin as he navigates the path towards a potential presidential bid.
