An Illinois Woman Arrested for Threatening to Murder Former President Donald Trump and His Son
An Illinois woman, Tracy Marie Fiorenza, has been arrested and charged after making threats to murder former president Donald Trump and his youngest son, Barron. The charges state that she knowingly and willfully made threats to kill or injure another person through an email, violating Title 18, U.S. Code Sections 875 (c).
According to the complaint filed at the U.S. District Court Southern District of Florida, on May 21, 2023, Ms. Fiorenza sent an email to the headmaster of an educational institution in Palm Beach County, Southern District of Florida, stating that she would “shoot Donald Trump Sr. AND Barron Trump straight in the face at any opportunity I get.” She followed up with another email on June 5, threatening to “slam a bullet in Barron Trump’s head with his father IN SELF DEFENSE!”

During an interview at the U.S. Secret Service Chicago Field Office on June 14, Ms. Fiorenza admitted to intentionally writing and sending the threatening emails from her residence in Plainfield, Illinois.
Ms. Fiorenza was arrested on Monday and presented to the Dirksen Federal Courthouse. The judge ordered her transfer to Florida, where the charges against her have been filed.
Prosecutors requested that Ms. Fiorenza be detained prior to her hearing due to the fact that Barron Trump, whom she threatened, is a minor at 17 years old. She has been remanded into the custody of U.S. Marshals until her detention hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
If convicted, Ms. Fiorenza could face a maximum prison sentence of five years.
According to Newsweek, Ms. Fiorenza was previously employed as a teacher at the Chicago Public Schools from 2019 to 2020. The outlet discovered anti-Trump posts on a suspected social media account associated with her, including claims that the Trump family was involved in a “Hollywood pedophile/rape ring” and that Barron had used fake test scores to enroll in school. One post even depicted a Trump doll hung with a noose.
Attempts Against Trump’s Life
Former president Donald Trump has faced numerous death threats and attempts on his life since his presidential campaign in 2016.
In June 2016, a British citizen named Michael Steven Sandford was arrested for trying to seize a firearm from an officer during a Trump rally in Las Vegas. He admitted to wanting to “shoot and kill Trump” and was sentenced to a year in prison.
In September 2017, Gregory Lee Leingang from North Dakota attempted to enter a restricted area, the Andeavor Mandan Refinery, with the intention of flipping the presidential limo and killing President Trump. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
President Trump has also faced threats from nation-states, such as Iran, which threatened retaliation for the killing of Qasem Soleimani, the country’s top military commander.
Additionally, President Trump has been targeted with envelopes containing ricin, a deadly poison.
Threatening Public Officials
Threats against public officials have been on the rise in recent years. According to a report by the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education (NCITE) Center, there were 501 threats directed at public officials between 2013 and 2022.
It is crucial to address and condemn such threats, as they undermine the safety and security of our democracy.
