Well, there’s a technical legal term for that. It’s called bulls***,” Cruz declared during a press conference at the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon. “It is an absolute and deliberate lie. She is knowingly lying on behalf of the president of the United States.”
Cruz referred to an incident in August 2022 when Fox News reporter Peter Doocy questioned White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre about why unvaccinated individuals were not allowed to enter the country by plane but were permitted to illegally cross the southern border on foot.
“But that’s not how it works,” Jean-Pierre responded, to which Doocy retorted, “That’s exactly what’s happening.”
Every day, immigrants in Mexico walk and swim across the southern border, a practice that has been ongoing since the establishment of the Border Patrol in 1924.
In recent weeks, border cities such as San Diego, Tucson, El Paso, and Eagle Pass have been overwhelmed with a constant stream of immigrants crossing the border day and night.
“Do you want to know how dire the situation is? Even Democrat mayors and governors, like Eric Adams in New York, are acknowledging that illegal immigration is ‘destroying’ their cities,” Cruz stated. “And that’s with 110,000 illegal immigrants in New York City alone. If 110,000 can cause such destruction, imagine what 7.6 million is doing to Texas and other states along our southern border. This is indefensible. It’s pure evil.”
Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) shared harrowing accounts of crimes committed against immigrants by the organized crime groups that facilitate their smuggling across the border.
“We listened to women recount their stories, and they were absolutely horrifying,” Britt revealed. “These women not only spoke of being raped but also described the frequency of these assaults. They shared the unimaginable trauma of having to endure repeated violations. It’s sickening and utterly despicable.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) agreed with Britt, emphasizing that the solution to the crisis lies in policy changes rather than throwing more money at it.
“The Biden administration dismantled every effective immigration policy implemented by Trump and replaced them with incentives for illegal immigration. We must eliminate these incentives,” Graham asserted.
