White House correspondents donate uneaten steak and lobster

The uneaten steak and lobster from Saturday’s canceled White House Correspondents’ dinner will be used to help feed women and children at local Washington, D.C., shelters.
On Saturday, an attempted attack on President Donald Trump and other administration officials at the black-tie gala halted the program before the entrees — prime Chateaubriand and Maine lobster served alongside whipped potato gratin, tri-roasted cauliflower, and sherry-braised pickled shallots — even hit the tables.

“The Hilton donated the ~2600 dinners that went unserved at WHCD,” White House Correspondents’ Association President Weijia Jiang said in a statement on Monday evening. “They freeze dried the steak and lobster for longer shelf life before giving them to 2 shelters for abused women and children. HUGE thank you to the staff that worked through the night under terrible circumstances.”
Guests on Saturday did get to nibble on spring pea and burrata salads before the shots rang out and would have been served grand opera cake, featuring espresso cream, almond sponge, and a buttercream chocolate ganache for dessert.
