WATCH LIVE: Leavitt holds press conference after Iran ceasefire deal
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt held her first press conference since the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire. President Donald trump announced the deal before an 8 p.m. deadline that would have likely escalated U.S. action, and his warning that “a whole civilization will die tonight” was reportedly averted by the agreement. A separate note quoted Vance calling the ceasefire a “fragile truce.” Pakistan, which helped mediate, was credited by Trump for its role, with thanks going to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir. Leavitt was scheduled to brief reporters again on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
