WaPo acknowledges Biden’s insufficient press conferences as unacceptable.

The Washington Post Calls Out President Biden’s Lack of Press Conferences

“Pick up the microphone, Mr. President. The media is not your enemy.”

The Washington Post’s editorial board is not holding back when it comes to their frustration with President Joe Biden’s lack of press conferences. In a scathing piece published on Monday, they called out his rare press availability as “not acceptable” and urged him to show that he can handle all aspects of the job as he runs for a second term.

But it’s not just the Post that’s fed up. Biden has held a record low number of press conferences, including zero solo conferences this year. The only two he’s held were joint sessions with world leaders. The Post editorial board said “it should not take a visit” from a foreign leader for Biden to take questions.

And it seems that the White House is not making things any easier for the press. Last week, the New York Post was barred from a rare press event featuring the president, despite there being plenty of open chairs at the event.

But perhaps the most frustrating part for the media is the mixed messages coming from the White House. Last week, Biden told the press he’d hold a “major” press conference, only to be quickly corrected by his team, who said he was instead appearing in an MSNBC interview.

It’s a change of pace for the media over the past two years, who have been accused of playing softball with the president and submitting questions in advance. But there is growing frustration among the press corps over the administration’s lack of transparency. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre claimed last month that the president takes an “unprecedented” number of questions, but reporters yelled “no” in response.

It’s time for President Biden to step up and face the press. The media is not his enemy, and the American people deserve transparency and accountability from their leaders.
