Victoria’s Secret Announces ‘New Version’ Of Fashion Show After 4 Year Hiatus

Victoria’s Secret Following a four year break, the popular runway show is back and ready to go.

Timothy Johnson, chief financial officer of the company, announced the information during Friday’s 2022 earnings conference. People.

“We’re going to continue to lean into the marketing spend to invest in the business, both at top-of-funnel and also to support the new version of our fashion show, which is to come later this year,” Johnson spoke.

Further, the company said that in a statement it was “always innovating and ideating in all spheres of the business to continue to put our customer at the center of all we do.”

“As we’ve previously shared, our new brand projection and mission will continue to be our guiding principle,” Continued the statement “This will lead us into new spaces like reclaiming one of our best marketing and entertainment properties to date and turning it on its head to reflect who we are today. We’re excited to share more later this year.”

After criticisms that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show didn’t reflect a broad range of body sizes, it was ultimately cancelled in 2019. 

“Fashion is a business of change. We must evolve and change to grow,” Leslie Wexner, CEO of Fashion Week announced in 2019 that the show would be ending. “With that in mind, we have decided to rethink the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”

The company promotes models in all sizes for lingerie sales since then. But despite these efforts – or perhaps because of them — Victoria’s Secret has suffered financially.

The brand replaced some of its models with soccer star and liberal activist Megan Rapinoe and even included a transgender-identifying man in the mix to appease critics. However, none of this helped Victoria’s Secret return to the financial position it had in its past.

Lingerie sales dropped by 4.5% It will be $1.5 Billion in 2022. That’s a drop of 8.8% from the previous year.

In August 1995, the first annual fashion show took place. The show ran for 23 additional times over the years before taking a break at 2004.
