If You’re Freezing Your Eggs At 36 Like AOC, You’ve Been Lied To

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants a baby, but not enough to get married to her longtime fiancé and try to conceive one naturally now. Instead, the 36-year-old democratic socialist plans to freeze her eggs so that sometime in the undefined future she can pay to get possibly get pregnant.

Even more shocking than hearing that the Green New Deal architect who once asked if a climate change-induced end of the world means it is “OK to still have children” suddenly has plans to start her own brood is seeing her display the private and sensitive details of her family planning in an influencer-style “get ready with me” livestream over the weekend.

“I want you all to see that. And because women can do anything, and I think it’s bad-ss that I’m going to be giving myself shots in the green room [as I] get my glam on,” she said.

“This is just not something that men deal with,” AOC added. She conveniently omits that it’s not something she has to “deal with” either.

AOC claims she’s undergoing the expensive and physically painful process of egg cryopreservation so she can “feel more in control of my life.” Contrary to the messaging that’s permeated our culture since the start of the sexual revolution, however, fertility can’t be controlled. Anyone pitching something that promises otherwise is simply selling a very pricey illusion of control.

It’s hard to know if hormone shots in the greenroom is political stunt or legitimate attempt to preserve the potential for future pregnancy. Either way, AOC and everyone who believes her recitation about how egg freezing shows “women can do anything” are being duped by an industry that thrives on the lies told by fourth-wave feminism.

No matter what AOC and celebrities say, the sometimes traumatizing procedure of harvesting and freezing ova for future in vitro fertilization (IVF) is no guarantee to motherhood. For one, egg cryopreservation is far less successful at yielding pregnancies later than advertised. And in terms of egg freezing optimization, AOC is already behind.

Egg utility notoriously diminishes in most women by the time they turn 30 years old. By 35, both females’ egg quantity and quality are susceptible to a rapid decline. As one BBC article plainly put it, 35 is the age when female “fertility falls off a cliff.”

“For those who do become pregnant later, there even are particular medical terms, including ‘geriatric pregnancy’ and ‘advanced maternal age,’ used to drive the point home,” the article warns.

Also often omitted from the discourse about ova retrieval is that women who undergo it can suffer side effects such as excessive bleeding, abdominal swelling, discomfort, weight gain, nausea, infection, problems urinating, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, fatal colon cancer, a potential increased risk for breast cancer, and even sudden infertility, which could further affect pregnancy potential.

Chance of pregnancy is diluted even further for women who plan to try for motherhood with IVF, which is also marked by what one 2026 study called “declining efficiency” over the last decade and a half. Every embryo that fails to implant adds to the countless little lab-created lives that are already sentenced to death by indefinite cryopreservation and discard.

Contrary to what corporate media insist, IVF isn’t the only way women can have a career. And it certainly isn’t the easiest path to parenthood. In many cases, reproductive technologies such as egg and sperm freezing and IVF and the “babies by any means necessary” ideology fueling their popularity grant a false sense of security to men and women who think they can cheat their biological clock and further deter them from settling down and raising a family.

AOC’s known her live-in beau since her Boston University days in 2011 and has been engaged to him since 2022. If she wants kids, she could tie the knot today and start trying to conceive naturally. A husband and children would double AOC’s likelihood of being happy. Instead, she’s indefinitely engaged and further delaying her pregnancy to pursue her career in the House of Representatives (and perhaps a presidential run).

That’s not an anomaly. Countless women for decades were told a career is more fulfilling than a family. As a result, many have spent oodles of dollars trying to reconcile their desire to climb the corporate ladder with the limits of their biological clock.

The consequences of this brainwashing have been vast. Infertility is rising, birth rates are dangerously low, and unhappiness, especially in single, childless females, persists. The solutions to these issues are widely and ferociously debated. All data suggests that getting married young and optimizing your chances at natural conception by trying for babies during peak fertility years can’t hurt, though.

Modern science has made it easier to increase or decrease chances of pregnancy, but no one person or technology can perfectly promise anyone a baby. The only thing promised is that the longer women like AOC wait to welcome a chance at motherhood, the harder it will be for them to have children.
