President Donald Trump reiterated his support for national concealed-carry reciprocity legislation on Tuesday, suggesting that the White House is “working on” advancing a bill through Congress.
Both congressional chambers introduced concealed-carry reciprocity bills last year. Legislation introduced by Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) moved out of committee in October of 2025, but the Senate Judiciary Committee has not advanced a competing bill. Trump has previously stated he would sign legislation on the subject into law.

Speaking in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, the president re-raised the subject while shouting out National Rifle Association President Bill Bachenberg.
“They always give me their endorsement because I saved the Second Amendment, and you think it’s easy? It was not easy,” Trump said. “I think you’ve done a fantastic job. The NRA, everybody, they really have been — they’ve been with me right from it.”
The president claimed that Bachenberg had previously asked if he would support the national right-to-carry legislation before asking the crowd, “How do you feel about national right to carry?”
“You know what that is? That’s a free poll. I don’t have to pay $300,000 to somebody that doesn’t even do polling to give you phony numbers,” he riffed following a thunderous round of applause. “See, those are real numbers. National right to carry, we’re working on it.”
White House officials did not say Tuesday if Trump was referencing the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2025 or a new piece of legislation.
