Former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden for his response to pro-Palestinian protests on various college campuses.

Protests at Columbia University garnered national headlines after reports of rampant intimidation and harassment of Jewish students, along with concerns for their safety. Trump said Biden’s handling of the current protests make the infamous 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, look like a “peanut.”

“Crooked Joe Biden would say, constantly, that he ran because of Charlottesville. Well, if that’s the case, he’s done a really terrible job because Charlottesville is like a “peanut” compared to the riots and anti-Israel protests that are happening all over our Country, RIGHT NOW….And it’s Crooked’s fault because he sends the wrong message every single time. The fact is that Crooked Joe Biden HATES Israel and Hates the Jewish people. The problem is that he HATES the Palestinians even more, and he just doesn’t know what to do!?!?” Trump said in a post on Wednesday.

Trump’s response to the infamous and deadly Charlottesville rally, where white nationalists clashed with counter-protesters, was criticized — specifically when he said there were “very fine people on both sides.” Trump later clarified that he was referring to those protesting against the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, and not the white nationalists.

A Biden campaign spokesperson told CNN “the American people are not going to be lectured to by the guy who called white supremacists very fine people after they chanted ‘Jews will not replace us’ and killed a woman.”

Biden has claimed his inspiration to run for president in 2020 was Trump’s response to the Charlottesville rally.

The president offered a qualified condemnation of the antisemitic aspects of the campus protests on Monday.

“I condemn the antisemitic protests,” Biden said. “That’s why I have set up a program to deal with that. I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians.”
