Trump calls for Pirro to reopen Reflecting Pool prosecutions with new allegations

President Donald Trump publicly urged U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro to reopen prosecutions of individuals accused of vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial reflecting Pool. Trump highlighted new evidence and damage photographs, criticizing Pirro for dismissing charges against alleged vandals, including some with connections to political groups and individuals he opposes. The dispute stemmed from Pirro’s decision to drop felony charges against certain suspects, citing flawed installation work rather than vandalism. Trump criticized her handling and called for further action, citing evidence of vandalism and witnesses. The incident has become a controversial issue, especially amid broader debates over the refurbishment of the Reflecting Pool and its political implications.

President Donald Trump on Friday publicly called for U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro, to reopen prosecutions of alleged vandals at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

After Pirro’s office dismissed the charges against four alleged vandals of the Reflecting Pool, Trump publicly revived the dispute in a post on Truth Social, pointing to new evidence of damage and calling for new prosecutions.

“Now that people are able to see it up close, they are reporting pure VANDALISM at The Reflecting Pool,” Trump said, along with a post from freelance photographer Andrew Leyden showing pictures of the damage.

“The material was cut right where the video tape showed, for 300 feet or more. People were on their knees with their hands in the water at the exact location of the ‘slashes.’ Additionally, there were witnesses to the VANDALISM, and the flexible areas of the material were cut with a knife,” he added.

The president called out Pirro, describing her dismissal of charges against the alleged vandals as a “hastily made decision,” and calling on her to revisit the matter.

“Especially since it turned out that the ‘gentleman’ involved is a big player in ActBlue, a disgraceful fundraising SCAM, and is represented by a TRUMP DERANGED SLEAZEBAG, Political Hack Lawyer, Norm Eisen, and CREW, a group that uses ‘charity’ for political purposes which is, to the best of my knowledge, ILLEGAL! I have been beating Eisen, a complete LUNATIC, in Court for 10 years, or more. He just keeps coming, but I always WIN!” he said.

Pirro’s office had recently dismissed felony charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn and misdemeanor accusations of destroying property valued at less than $1,000 for three others. The federal prosecutor and former Fox News host said the damage to the Reflecting Pool was the “result of flawed installation by the contractor” rather than vandalism.

PIRRO DROPS THREE MORE REFLECTING POOL VANDALISM CASES AMID TRUMP OUTRAGE

Pirro, a longtime Trump ally, experienced a rare rift with the president after dropping the charges. The Reflecting Pool has become a flash point in national interest after Trump ordered its refurbishment, setting off a battle against largely Democratic critics who saw it as a waste of money at best and desecration at worst, and defenders who saw it as long overdue.

After problems quickly emerged with the pool shortly after the refurbishment was finished, Trump has traded accusations of vandalism against claims that a shoddy job was done.
