Trump criticizes ‘new’ Fox News, asserts only he can rescue it from ‘plummeting’.

Former President Donald Trump Slams Fox News Over Ad Choices

Former President Donald Trump took to slamming Fox News Saturday over the network’s ad choices.

“Do not broadcast negative ads against Republican and Conservative Candidates by Perverts and Misfits like the Failing Lincoln Project, and others. Roger Ailes never allowed that—And neither should a new and less successful Fox,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Big turnoff! MSDNC and Fake News CNN will never allow positive Republican ads or hit pieces on Crooked Joe Biden. Fox must get smart fast before it’s too late. Only ‘TRUMP’ can save Fox News. It is in freefall!”

Ailes, notably, was fired in 2016 following allegations of sexual assault from his own anchors and died in 2017. Suzanne Scott has been at the helm of Fox News since 2018.

Fox News Loses No. 1 Prime-Time Slot to MSNBC

Fox News lost its rating as the No. 1 prime-time slot among cable news networks to MSNBC last week, according to Nielson ratings that revealed MSNBC garnered an average of 1.489 million prime-time viewers in the week beginning June 5. Meanwhile, Fox News had an average of 1.484 million viewers. This was still 10.9% more than its 1.338 million average the previous week, but MSNBC saw an increase of over 50% to put it over the top.

CNN Rises in Viewership, But Still Trails Behind

CNN jumped in viewership but still sits at only seventh place for that same prime-time slot, despite its brief popularity for its town hall with moderator Kaitlan Collins and Trump. The television event garnered 3.31 million total viewers tuning in to the network, according to Nielsen ratings.

Trump has had a storied history with Fox News, at one point boycotting from appearing on the network in 2015, which he abandoned by the time he was made the 2016 Republican nominee for president.
