Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) reiterated a comment he made on social media about protesters in support of the Hamas terrorist group, who have been blocking various highways over the past few days.

Cotton had encouraged people on social media to “take matters into your own hands” to remove pro-Palestine protesters blocking highway traffic. The past couple of days have seen several demonstrations on highways, with one preventing travelers from driving to the O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois.

I encourage people who get stuck behind the pro-Hamas mobs blocking traffic: take matters into your own hands to get them out of the way.

It’s time to put an end to this nonsense.

The Arkansas senator noted how these types of protests are harming people who are simply going about their day and could potentially be harming people trying to get a family member to a hospital for treatment.

“All these pro-Hamas lunatics can, I don’t know, get a permit and protest in a park and wave around little Hamas flags if they want to make fools of themselves, but they have no right block traffic, especially on major highways and city streets when other people are trying to go about their business,” Cotton said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle.

Cotton also expressed his support for local police to arrest these protesters if they are able to, adding that the protesters should not be surprised if they are forcibly removed from the road by travelers.

In addition, Cotton criticized Democratic lawmakers for not condemning protesters who have advocated against Israel, claiming that they are raising money to bail these protesters from jail.

“So they’re not really sympathetic to people who are trying to catch a flight at O’Hare to go visit a parent or see a kid’s graduation or to a mom who’s got to get her kid to the doctor’s office or school in the morning,” Cotton said. “They’re sympathetic to all these anti-Israel, pro-Hamas protesters, and therefore they don’t want to take a position on what they’re doing to violate the law.”

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but blocking a bridge or berating folks in Starbucks isn’t righteous, it just makes you an asshole.

Demand Hamas to send every hostage back home and surrender. https://t.co/mG8212taQ6

Cotton is not the only senator to speak out against these types of protests, as Sen. John Fetterman shared footage on X of pro-Palestine protesters berating customers and employees inside of a Starbucks building. Fetterman wrote that this type of behavior “just makes you an a**hole,” and encouraged the protesters to demand Hamas release their hostages and surrender.
