Senator Ted Cruz Predicts Politically Motivated Indictment of Donald Trump
Former President Donald Trump is likely to face a federal indictment motivated by personal animosity, according to Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). Cruz claims that Attorney General Merrick Garland has a score to settle with Trump, stemming from his bitterness towards Republicans after they denied him a seat on the Supreme Court.

Trump’s attorneys have already visited the Department of Justice (DOJ) as special counsel Jack Smith reportedly nears a charging decision on the storage of classified records and obstruction of justice. Trump denies wrongdoing, claiming he declassified documents in his possession before leaving office and had a right to take them.
Obstruction Charges
Cruz believes that Garland’s DOJ will focus on pursuing obstruction charges, as other top executives, including President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence, also had classified documents in their possession after leaving office. Cruz argues that Garland will create a crime about a noncrime, using it as the basis for the indictment.
Corruption Allegations
Cruz has positioned himself as a high-profile ally of Trump’s after their clash in the 2016 GOP presidential nomination contest. As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over the DOJ, Cruz claims that Garland has “corrupted” the agency along with its law enforcement arm, the FBI. He also surmises that the DOJ will attempt to put on a facade of fairness by indicting Biden’s adult son, Hunter, while ignoring serious allegations of corruption against the president and his family.
Personal Motivations
Cruz believes that Garland’s motivations are purely personal, dealing with drugs, guns, and tax issues for Hunter that have nothing to do with Joe Biden. He claims that the DOJ wants to protect and insulate Joe Biden and his family’s corruption and will use Hunter Biden as a scapegoat to justify targeting Donald Trump.
