Super PAC endorsing DeSantis brings on Ted Cruz’s former campaign manager: Report

A super PAC closely associated with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is now preparing for the 2024 presidential election by adding former Ted Cruz campaign manager Jeff Roe to its ranks, according to a Politico report. Although DeSantis has yet to announce his candidacy for president, discussions surrounding his possible run have been ongoing for several months. Roe’s appointment to the Never Back Down super PAC signals that an announcement may come this summer.

The super PAC already includes the executive director Chris Jankowski, a veteran Republican strategist, and the chairman Ken Cuccinelli, who served as a Homeland Security official under former President Donald Trump.

DeSantis has been preparing for a presidential run by embarking on a book tour to several states and cities to promote his newest book, The Courage to Be Free. He has already made stops in Iowa, Illinois, and California, with plans to visit Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Washington, D.C.

Despite not announcing his candidacy, DeSantis is considered the biggest threat to former President Trump for the Republican nomination. Nevertheless, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy are currently the only Republicans, outside of Trump and DeSantis, to have announced a run for the party’s nomination.

Regardless, prominent Republicans, such as Texas Representative Chip Roy, have endorsed DeSantis for the party’s nomination.
