Final Payments for Food and Utility Subsidy Program in Chelsea, Massachusetts

Up to $400 for 738 Selected Households

Exciting news for recipients of the food and utility subsidy program in Chelsea, Massachusetts! In just five days, on Monday, May 15, 738 selected households will receive their final payment, worth up to $400. This program was designed to help subsidize food and utility bill costs for financially challenged families in the area.

The amount of the final payment depends on the number of people in the household. A household of one will receive $200, a household of two will receive $300, and a household of three or more will receive $400. The funds will be loaded onto the recipient’s debit cards, which were issued in March.

Priority Given to Financially Challenged Households

Recipients were chosen through a lottery system, with priority given to financially challenged households. According to the program’s website, city staff reviewed applications and gave preferences to households with children under 18, disabled residents, veterans, seniors over 65, families who are ineligible for other forms of federal assistance, families with a female-identifying head of household, and families with a member with a marginalized gender identity.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the program, families had to be residents of Chelsea with a household income of 30% less than the town’s median. Households of one had to make below $29,450, and households of two had to make below $33,650 to be part of the program. The amount increased for each additional member of the household.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to receive financial assistance for food and utility bills. If you meet the eligibility requirements, apply for the program today!

Note: The first payment was issued on March 15, and the final payment will be issued on May 15. The program will be discontinued after the final payment.
