Spencer Pratt falls behind Nithya Raman in LA mayoral race after latest update
In los Angeles’ mayoral primary, Republican candidate Spencer Pratt fell just behind Councilwoman Nithya Raman after an updated vote count showed Raman leading in second place (27.1% vs. Pratt’s 26.7%) with 83.2% of expected votes counted. Pratt claimed on X that polls showed a “net swing of more than 43,000 votes” against him since Tuesday’s close. Raman said she was encouraged by the latest results. the winner will face incumbent Mayor Karen Bass in the Nov. 3 general election.
Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt fell behind Councilwoman Nithya Raman in the city’s mayoral primary election Sunday night, threatening the former reality TV star’s chances of advancing to the November general election against incumbent mayor Karen Bass.
Raman overtook Pratt for second place after a vote count update revealed she had received 27.1% of the votes counted thus far, compared to Pratt’s 26.7%. 83.2% of the expected vote has been counted.

Pratt rose to prominence by running advertisements generated by artificial intelligence and blaming Bass for “burning my house” in the January 2025 Southern California fires.

“We are encouraged by the latest vote count and remain grateful to the thousands of Angelenos who have powered this campaign,” Raman said in a statement provided to the Los Angeles Times.
The general election against Bass is on Nov. 3.
