Spencer Pratt blasts Mamdani over ‘fake’ Ugandan accent
Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate and reality TV personality Spencer Pratt criticized New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani for a resurfaced 2016 video in which Mamdani spoke with an Ugandan accent. Pratt accused Mamdani of cultural appropriation, calling him a “theater kid commie” and questioning his authenticity, particularly targeting his political plans like a city-run grocery store. The video,from Mamdani’s interview for the Disney film “queen of Katwe,” showed him speaking in an Ugandan accent,which Pratt denounced as fake. Mamdani’s background includes being a music supervisor for the film and performing as a rapper under stage names “Young Cardamom” and “Mr. Cardamom.” Pratt’s criticism extends to other aspects of Mamdani’s career,including his political initiatives and public speeches,with some members of the public also questioning Mamdani’s sincerity.

“Look at theater kid commie Mamdani running another fake accent and appropriating African culture,” Pratt posted on X. “Communists are all frauds. EVERY single one. Don’t ever trust a communist, or else you’ll get Galloway’d and stranded in a gulag.”

The clip is from 2016 where Mamdani was being interviewed for the Disney film Queen of Katwe, a true story about the life of a 10-year-old girl named Phiona Mutesi who grew up in the slum of Katwe in Kampala, Uganda, and eventually became a national chess champion.
Mamdani was a music supervisor for Queen of Katwe alongside his mother, Mira Nair, who directed the Disney film.
Before pursuing a political career, Mamdani was a rapper who performed under the stage names “Young Cardamom” and “Mr. Cardamom.”

Others were also quick to criticize the New York mayor over the video, questioning his authenticity.
Pratt has previously attacked Mamdani over his city-run grocery store plan and his July 4 speech.
