SNL mocks Trump’s Middle East ‘boys’ trip’: ‘Don’t think I saw a single woman’
Saturday Night Live dedicated the cold open of its season finale to President Donald Trump‘s tour of the Middle East this week.
Saturday brought the close of the comedy sketch show’s 50th season. The opening sketch parodied the meeting between Trump and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This was Trump’s second foreign trip while in office during his second term.
“But I’ve had a great trip here in the Middle East. It was very much a boys’ trip. I don’t think I saw a single woman. What’s up with that, huh?” SNL cast member James Austin Johnson said in his Trump impersonation. “All the time, just walking into a roomful of boys. Hi, boys. Boys again. The women are all hiding. It’s like a nation of Melanias.”
Johnson was referring to first lady Melania Trump, who has made rare public appearances. Melania Trump was last at an event earlier this month, to launch a USPS forever stamp in honor of Barbara Bush, and before that, for the White House Easter Egg Roll.

She made rare appearances throughout the 2024 campaign, with her first fundraiser for her husband happening in April of last year. It was hosted by the GOP LGBT group Log Cabin Republicans. At that point, the then-former president had been campaigning for reelection for almost a year and a half.
Both Qatar and Saudi Arabia have codified laws regarding male guardianship over women. These male guardians can determine how women travel, even within their respective countries.
