Trump says US is ‘destroying’ Iranian regime and warns ‘watch what happens’ today
President Donald Trump blasted the New York Times early Friday morning for its coverage of Operation Epic Fury, claiming that it showed that the U.S. was “not winning.” The president provided a list of military accomplishments so far and teased that something would be occurring “today.”
“We are totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise, yet, if you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. “Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer, missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth.”
Trump did not reference a specific article from the New York Times. He then touted the strength of the country’s military before mentioning a warning about operations apparently scheduled for Friday. He also said it was a “great honor” to order military strikes against Iran after he blamed the country for killing innocent people for nearly half a century.
US INTELLIGENCE REPORT SUGGESTS IRANIAN REGIME IS NOT AT RISK OF IMMINENT COLLAPSE
“We have unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time – Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today,” Trump said. “They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so!”
The “47 years” Trump mentioned in his post refers to the 1979 Iranian Revolution in which Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Iran’s last Shah of the Pahlavi dynasty, was overthrown and the Islamic Republic of Iran was created. Since its inception, the Islamic Republic of Iran has been linked to numerous terrorist acts in countries throughout the world, especially by proxy through the use of paramilitary groups, such as Hezbollah, in the Middle East. One of the more devastating attacks was the 1983 suicide bombing of U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, in which 220 Marines, 18 sailors, and three soldiers were killed.
