Second NJ Republican City Council Member Shot and Killed in One Week

Russell Heller, a 51-year-old Milford Councilman, was found dead in Somerset’s parking lot at the local energy company PSE&G. Heller had been working there since 2007. According to the New York Post.

Heller’s death comes just one week after Sayreville Councilwoman Dwumfour was also fatally shot in her SUV near her home. Heller was found dead around 15 miles from where Dwumfour’s body was discovered.

Authorities have not linked the shootings to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Heller’s shooting was described as an “anonymous” event. “isolated incident” And he was the “intended target.”

PSE&G released a statement in writing expressing their sadness. “We are heartbroken at the tragic death of Russell Heller, senior distributor supervisor at PSE&G. Russell was an admired employee and a supervisor with over 11 years of service with PSE&G.”

“He will be sorely missed by all, and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. This event is tragic and disturbing, and we are offering support to our employees as they process this,” The statement was continued. “We are cooperating with law enforcement with respect to their investigation.”

Phil Murphy, Governor of New Jersey, posted this tweet. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Russell Heller’s family and friends in the wake of this tragic act of gun violence.”

Rep. Tom Kean, Republican of New Jersey, wrote: I am shocked by the tragic murders of Russell Heller and Milford Councilman. Russell was an exceptional public servant and proudly represented the river community he loved. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, as well as the Milford community.
