“Pro-Life Spiderman” Scales Former Chase Tower in Phoenix, Taken Into Custody

Protester scaled former Chase tower during Super Bowl Week without any safety gear or ropes. Police were waiting at the top to seize him for custody.

22-year-old Maison DesChamps calls himself “Pro-Life Spiderman,” It is one of the tallest buildings in the city, at 40 stories.

He started climbing shortly before 10 a.m. MST, and finished his climb before 11 a.m. February 7.

DesChamps was streaming the event live on his phone while climbing. He claims he did it to raise awareness for an antiabortion charity.

And as you can see, he prepared for this – he had climbing shoes and chalk on his hands. Before reaching the top, he took breaks at each section.

During the incident, Central Avenue between Monroe Street and Adams Street was closed.

DesChamps’ climb from the downtown to capture his view of the crowd drew more attention throughout the morning.

“We know it’s Super Bowl week, so we walked over, and I can’t believe there’s a man scaling a very tall building right now.”

“We’re on the 19th floor when we see him at first, and he was probably like 10 floors down. Now he’s at the top.”

“I don’t know what he thinks he’s doing, but it’s happening right now, man.”

Phoenix firefighters responded to the call and said that DesChamps was in danger.

“Extremely dangerous. There’s multiple places all over the Valley where you can go over and climb in a controlled environment, this is an uncontrolled environment. This is not what you’re supposed to do,” Captain Todd Keller

This is not the first time DesChamps has done something like this – in 2022, he The Salesforce building was climbed San Francisco and San Jose New York Times Building.
