Police Seek Public’s Help in Grisly Suitcase Remains Case
Authorities are reaching out to the public for assistance after the discovery of human remains in three separate suitcases off the coast of southeast Florida. The Delray Beach Police Department made the chilling find on Friday, prompted by a call from a vigilant construction worker who noticed something unusual in the Intracoastal Waterway.
“We found the remains of a woman hanging outside one of the suitcases,” revealed Chief Russ Mager during a press conference.
Further investigation led officers to uncover additional human remains inside two other suitcases near the waterway. All the remains are believed to belong to the same woman. Descriptions provided by the police indicate that the victim was a white or Hispanic middle-aged woman, approximately 5’4″ tall, with light brown hair. She was estimated to be between 35 and 55 years old.
The victim was last seen wearing a floral tank top paired with a black undershirt and black mid-thigh shorts.
Authorities suspect that the dumping of the remains occurred between July 17 and July 20. In their plea for information, investigators are asking the public to come forward with any relevant details, including surveillance footage from that time period. They are particularly interested in any sightings of unusual vehicles, suspicious individuals, or anyone seen carrying or moving luggage.
“We believe this is an isolated incident,” assured Sgt. Casey Kelly, emphasizing that there is no immediate cause for public concern beyond this case. He concurred with a reporter’s observation that the crime was undeniably “gruesome.”
The area of interest along the southeast Florida coast spans approximately one mile, according to ABC News. Delray Beach, with a population of around 66,000 people, is the focal point of the investigation.
In a separate incident, property owners in Texas alerted the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office after discovering what appeared to be human remains inside a duffel bag. Sheriff Javier Salazar confirmed the report, as per CBS News.
