Pierre Cardin returns to Paris Fashion Week with space age lineup

PARIS (Reuters) – French label Pierre Cardin returned to the official Paris fashion week schedule for the first time in decades, sending out a colorful, off-beat lineup of styles that recalled its space age heyday.

Two-toned suits jackets were worn by models in two-toned colors. They had triangular-shaped lapels and asymmetrical gowns and capses. Thin ties at the tips formed an arrow shape.

Models were spotlighted by attendees as they navigated down the temporary runway that was set up in the brand’s vacant flagship store, currently undergoing renovations.

Spinning holograms were projected in the windows of the store — located across the street from France’s Elysee Palace — and one model carried the three-dimensional projection in a handbag.

Rodrigo Basilicati Cardin (the great nephew of Cardin), took control of the label after Cardin’s passing in 2020.

Basilicati cardin created competitions to recruit talent from abroad, such as South Korea or Mexico, to help him spark enthusiasm for the label with younger people.

“My goal is to manage the label and bring it on track,” After the show, he spoke to journalists and greeted Mireille Mathieu (French singer)
