Only 14% Of Dems Are ‘Extremely Proud’ To Be American
The article discusses the declining sense of American patriotism, highlighting a recent Gallup poll where only 14% of Democrats reported feeling “extremely proud” to be American, marking a record low. In contrast, about 70% of Republicans expressed high pride.Historically, patriotism was more bipartisan, wiht over half of both parties feeling highly patriotic in 2001.The decline in Democratic patriotic sentiment has become more pronounced in recent years. The piece also explores how media and political actions have contributed to this divide, citing examples like media criticism of the U.S. men’s soccer team’s support during the World Cup and Democrat-led decisions to skip national events like the Great american State Fair. Demographic analysis shows women and minorities tend to report lower national pride, whereas men and white adults are more patriotic. the article suggests a widening partisan gap and cultural divide concerning national pride in the United States.
With America’s 250th anniversary approaching this Saturday, just 14 percent of Democrats described themselves as “extremely proud” to be an American, according to a new Gallup poll, as national pride hits a new low.
After the Sept. 11 attacks, national pride was at a high. Through 2004, 65 to 70 percent of poll respondents felt extremely proud, according to Gallup data from the time. Yet, each year since 2018, less than half of respondents reported extreme pride.
As other polls have also shown, this data highlights a widening partisan gap when it comes to national pride. This year, there was a 56-point gap between Republicans and Democrats, with 70 percent of Republicans and 14 percent of Democrats claiming they were “extremely proud.”
Democrats and the propaganda press seem intent on fueling this lack of national pride, as demonstrated by corporate media’s response to the United States Men’s National Soccer Team performing well during the beginning rounds of the World Cup. “Some Seattle soccer fans have mixed feelings about patriotically backing the U.S. team during the FIFA Men’s World Cup, given the actions of President Donald Trump,” The Seattle Times tweeted. Many conservatives online responded to the tweet — and the attached article — with rebuke.
In another recent display of left-wing-driven disunity, at least 9 Democrat-run states decided not to have booths at the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., many citing financial reasons. Democrat Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey attacked President Donald Trump when asked why her state wasn’t participating, saying that the president is trying to “get money into his own pocket” with the fair. Freedom 250, the nonpartisan organization putting on the event, said there is no cost for states to participate.
West Virginia’s exhibit featured karaoke and a car-racing game, while other states like Ohio handed out free candy and stickers to visitors. Even territories like Guam and Puerto Rico set up elaborate booths showcasing their culture and history. Meanwhile, the booths for the non-participating states are designed the exact same way — a canvas with the state’s name and a couple of standard seating options.
Patriotism wasn’t always partisan, however. In a 2001 Gallup poll, 64 percent of Republicans and 54 percent of Democrats fell in the most patriotic group. Though Republicans have reported higher levels of patriotism since Gallup began the survey, the data show that the catastrophic decline in patriotism in the Democrat Party is a relatively recent phenomenon.
Women and minorities, demographics more likely to vote for Democrats, also reported low rates of national pride. Comparatively, men and white adults reported higher national pride.
