Obama Received $30 Million From CCP-linked Fugitive for 2012 Election Campaign, Yet Trump Faces Criminal Prosecution

While Democrats are targeting former President Donald Trump for allegedly paying hush money during the 2016 presidential election, President Obama’s “illegal foreign influence operation” is receiving less attention.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio recently testified in federal court that Malaysian financier Jho Low planned to donate up to $30 million to help fund Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. However, foreign nationals are not allowed to contribute to presidential campaigns under U.S federal election law.

Low is currently facing federal charges of embezzling $4.5 billion from Malaysia’s 1MDB sovereign wealth fund. DiCaprio, who had a relationship with the financier and was involved with a movie that Low helped fund, is considered a crucial witness in the case. Prakazrel “Pras” Michel, a founding member of the hip-hop group The Fugees, was allegedly recruited by Low to funnel funds to Obama’s campaign.

According to federal prosecutors, Michel was able to wire the money to Obama’s campaign from Low’s account without detection. They also believe Michel worked with others in an attempt to get the Trump Administration to cease its investigation into Low.

Low is currently a fugitive and is believed to be hiding in China, while others involved have been charged with offences that include bribery and money laundering.

In 2018, the Justice Department entered into a civil agreement with the company responsible for producing DiCaprio’s film, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” which saw them forfeit $60 million that was determined to have been stolen from 1MDB. DiCaprio has since cooperated with the U.S. government.
