NY Post Editorial Board: End the Horrors of the Pediatric Gender-Industrial Complex, Now

Kudos to Jamie Reed, whistleblower and The Free Press Exposing the horrors in the pediatric gender industry.

Reed — a leftist and self-identified queer woman married to a trans man — As a case manager, I worked there for many years. The Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She accepted the job in order to serve marginalized groups. What happened on the job is beyond explanation and infringes the Hippocratic Oath’s major tenet: First do no harm.

Shocker No. 1: There were no treatment protocols at the center. The co-directors made life changing decisions on an as-needed basis, largely on a whim. Reed’s career was filled with worse things. 

Like an explosion in the number of intake calls, with the vast majority being for girls, often in groups from the same school and sometimes coming in with imaginary self-diagnosis of Tourette’s and other neurological conditions. 

Reed says that the clinic’s doctors are very friendly. You already knew These self-diagnoses of neurological disorders were an example of social contagion — but refused to admit the Similar Self-diagnosis of gender dysmorphia might be possible. 

It took only one letter from a therapist and one medical consultation to get these children hormones. These hormones could have irreversible and life-threatening consequences, including sterility and liver toxicity, as well as severe sexual issues. 

Even worse, intakes were coming in from the mental-health unit of the hospital. Yes, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia patients. They were given hormones to treat their mental illnesses (including one patient who sexually abused dogs compulsively).

Parental rights Blatantly, regularly disregarded. Reed mentions the case of a young boy whose mother decided mid-divorce that her daughter was transgender and sent her to the clinic for a puberty blocker. To stop it, the father fought and lost in court. 

Reed was also on the front lines of a phenomenon gender extremists claim doesn’t matter: detransitioning, i.e. when people who’ve transitioned want to go back. One doctor she worked with callously refused to pay any mind to the detransitioners, patients he’d formerly cared for. She also mentions a teenage girl who told a nurse heartbreakingly. “I want my breasts back.” 

Internally, Reed raised the obvious ethical concerns — Until She was called to the podium at a retreat for staff members and was told (in so many words) that she is. “get on board, or get out.”

That’s precisely This is the attitude that underpins gender extremism within US pediatric medicine, despite the fact that most of the developed world has stopped giving hormones to children. If you’re uncomfortable with the idea of children being fast-tracked into a medical regime that will damage them permanently, often against the wishes of their parents, you’re a hateful bigot.  

How many more children will we have to suffer before there is any real change?
