Menendez: US must ‘dramatically’ increase engagement with Mexico on cartels

Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), suggested Sunday that the United States should strengthen its relationship with a neighboring nation Mexico In regards to the treatment of drug cartels at the border.

And so we need to up, dramatically, in our engagement with Mexico. It can’t be all about economics. It has to be about safety and security, as well.”

Senator from New Jersey added that such cartels should be labeled as “foreign terrorist” While organizations are not a solution in themselves, they can ask questions that could impact the cartels. Menendez suggested asking questions such as how the U.S. could dry up the money of the cartels, and how to pursue the cartels leaders.
