Manhunt For Larry Hogan’s Ex-Aide Ends, Suspect Possibly ‘Wounded’: Report

Roy McGrath, a former aide of Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, was located by law enforcement officials after a three-week manhunt. The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear but reports indicate that he may have been wounded. McGrath had been missing after skipping court and a welfare check was done at his Naples home in Florida. The FBI was concerned that something might have happened to him, including the possibility of suicide.

Joseph Murtha, McGrath’s attorney, expressed concern about his client’s well-being and was unsure of the situation. This is after McGrath resigned from his post as Hogan’s chief of staff, following allegations of fraudulently obtaining a severance package worth $233,648 from his prior job leading the Maryland Environmental Service. McGrath is facing charges of wire fraud and theft which he denies. State charges also accuse him of illegally recording private conversations with senior officials.

McGrath has worked with Hogan for a long time and was considered a trusted adviser who helped build the governor’s administration after winning the Maryland governor’s race in 2014. Hogan denies approving McGrath’s large severance and could be called as a witness in the case. The FBI and U.S. Marshals Service offered a $10,000 reward each for information leading to McGrath’s capture.
