The Department of Justice reindicted accused pipe bomb suspect Brian Cole Jr., doubling the number of felony counts against him days after his lawyers released a transcript of the FBI interview in which he confessed to planting two devices outside the national party headquarters before Jan. 6, 2021.
A federal grand jury returned an eight-count indictment Wednesday that charged Cole separately for each bomb. The earlier four-count indictment grouped the devices found outside the Republican National Committee and Democratic National Committee headquarters together under each charge. The superseding indictment was expected, and Cole was in court on Thursday for his arraignment, according to a court calendar.
