Liverpool Fans Boo U.K. National Anthem During Game Against Brentford

Liverpool fans made their feelings about the monarchy clear during their game against Brentford on the same day as King Charles III’s coronation. The fans carried anti-monarchy signs and were captured on video shouting obscenities about the new King. In fact, the boos were louder than the music of the national anthem.

Long-Held Disdain for the Royal Family

This isn’t the first time Liverpool fans have shown their disdain for the Royal family. During the Football Association cup in May of last year, Prince William was also met with boos when fans discovered he was in attendance.

King Charles III was the first British monarch to be crowned in 70 years. However, a CNN poll found that as many as 23% rank Charles unfavorably.
