During Tuesday morning’s broadcast of “Get Up,” ESPN host Mike Greenberg couldn’t hide his emotions when discussing quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury in his debut game with the New York Jets.
Greenberg began his opening monologue but quickly halted, acknowledging that this was not a normal morning and he couldn’t just brush it off. He expressed his struggle to continue the show as usual, saying, “I can’t pretend this is alright. I cannot pretend this is a normal morning.”

Greenberg made it clear that he hadn’t fully processed the events of the previous night, where Rodgers was injured just four plays into the game. The quarterback was taken out of the game after a tackle by Buffalo Bills’ Leonard Floyd, and subsequent tests confirmed an Achilles injury, ending his season.
While some fans wanted to blame the turf or find someone to hold accountable, Greenberg acknowledged that injuries are an inherent part of football. He said, “Sometimes things just happen. Football is inherently a violent and dangerous game, injuries are going to take place 100% of the time.”
