Karoline Leavitt welcomes daughter Vivian: ‘perfect and healthy’

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that she gave birth to her daughter, Viviana (“Vivi”), on May 1. She said the baby is “perfect and healthy” and that her older son, Nicholas (“Niko”) Robert Riccio, is adjusting to having a new baby sister.

Leavitt also thanked people who reached out during her pregnancy, saying she felt their prayers throughout the experience. This is her second child with husband Nicholas Riccio; their frist child was born on July 10, 2024.

This is Leavitt’s second child with husband Nicholas Riccio. The couple’s first child, Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, was born on July 10, 2024.

Leavitt thanked those who contacted her throughout her pregnancy.

“Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy – I truly felt them throughout the entire experience,” she said. “God is Good.”

Leavitt announced her pregnancy in December, saying the couple’s baby girl was the “best Christmas gift.”

The press secretary was expected to begin her maternity leave days before the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, but postponed her maternity leave following the shooting at the event.

The White House is not replacing Leavitt while she is on maternity leave, as various members of the Trump administration will rotate to fill in for her at the podium.
