Joe Concha slams James Talarico: He has ‘too much to play defense on’

Joe concha, a washington Examiner columnist, criticized Texas Senate candidate James Talarico for his stance on transgender healthcare and abortion, accusing him of twisting scripture to justify policies he claims are rooted in a “Christofascism movement” using faith for political and social power. Concha argued that talarico’s views are detrimental to his electoral prospects in Texas and condemned his policies on mutilation and sterilization of children. He compared Talarico to Beto O’Rourke, noting O’Rourke’s unsuccessful bids for governor, Senate, and president. Concha also mocked Talarico’s chances in debates, suggesting he would be overwhelmed by opponents like Ken Paxton. Additionally, teh article touches on Texas Attorney general ken Paxton’s victory over john Cornyn in a GOP runoff, with Trump’s endorsement, and references recent political tensions and criticisms surrounding Paxton and other Texas politicians.

Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha slammed Democratic Texas Senate nominee James Talarico for his policies on transgender healthcare after a clip of him from 2023 resurfaced.

In the YouTube video, Talarico talked about gender affirming care for transgender children and abortion bans. He said these ideologies stem from a “Christofascism movement, which essentially like I said, is just using faith to exercise raw political, social, and economic power.”

Concha argued Talarico’s views will not deliver him a win in Texas.

“This fake Christian is twisting the words of scripture to defend the mutilation, sterilization of children while attacking real Christians. This is somehow simultaneously ridiculous and stupid,” Concha said on Fox News’s Hannity Thursday.

Concha compared Talarico to Beto O’Rourke, saying O’Rourke lost running for governor, Senate, and president.

In 2018, O’Rourke ran for U.S. Senate, losing to incumbent Republican Ted Cruz. He then ran for president in the 2020 election, but ended his bid in November 2019. Later, O’Rourke ran as a Democrat for the governor of Texas in 2022, losing to incumbent Republican Greg Abbott.

“The moment this guy debates Ken Paxton, this thing will be over faster than a knife fight in a phone booth,” Concha said.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in the Texas Senate GOP runoff. President Donald Trump endorsed Paxton ahead of the May 26 runoff.

“There’s just too much for this guy to play defense on, and it’s all on video, it’s all on tape, and it’s just the indefensible,” Concha said.
