Vance of Ohio expressed his readiness to assist Donald Trump as a running mate, considering it a significant honor. This announcement was made on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle. Speculation about Vance being a potential vice-presidential candidate was deliberated, mentioning other contenders such as Senator Tim Scott and a Governor.
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) said it would be “a great honor” to help Donald Trump as a running mate.
Vance appeared on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle on Thursday to address reports that he is on Trump’s short list for vice president. Others believed to be on the list include Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD), Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX).
“I have actually never spoken to the president about VP speculation,” Vance said. “My simple answer is, I want to help him however I can. If he asks me, of course I would think seriously about it. It would be a great honor. I also am happy to support the agenda in the United States Senate.”
Trump is credited with putting an end to overseas manufacturing jobs, according to Vance, which is a major concern in Ohio. The former president helped Vance win his Senate seat in 2022 with his endorsement. Vance implied that Trump is setting a new precedent in the GOP in his conversation with host Laura Ingraham.
“And the real question for the Republican Party is whether we follow that lead and double down on that winning agenda or do we try to go backed to the old ways,” Vance said. “And, unfortunately, Laura, as you know as well as I do, there is a critical component of the old guard of the Republican Party that wants to go back to the old ways, more immigration, more war, less good wages for American workers.”
