James Carville threatens to quit Dems over Hasan Piker

James Carville, a Democratic strategist, expressed his strong opposition to the influence of left-wing commentator Hasan Piker within the Democratic Party, stating he would leave the party if Piker became a important force. Carville highlighted the ideological divide within Democrats, noting that many share his concerns about the party shifting too far to the left, especially referencing the Democratic Socialists of America platform. He emphasized that the growing prominence of progressive figures like Piker signals potential political realignments, with fractures emerging in both major parties. Carville foresees a possible strain on the two-party system, citing examples from both Democrats adn Republicans, and confidently stated that he and Piker cannot coexist in the same party, implying that one of them will eventually leave.

Democratic strategist James Carville said he would leave the Democratic Party if left-wing commentator Hasan Piker becomes an influential figure within it, underscoring ideological tensions as Democrats continue debating the party’s future.

“I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker. I can tell you that right now. If he becomes a force in the Democratic Party, I’m out of here,” Carville said. “I have no intention of ever being in the same political party with that guy,” Carville said on Fox News’s The Sunday Briefing.

Piker, who built his name as a Twitch streamer, has become a favored campaign surrogate for Democrats, particularly progressive candidates, ahead of the midterm elections.

He’s become a prominent voice among younger progressives, aligning himself with many positions associated with the Democratic Socialists of America, a rise Carville dismissed, rejecting the prospect of sharing a party with him.

Carville argued that most Democrats shared his concerns about the party moving further to the left, pointing listeners toward the DSA’s platform as evidence of ideological divide.

“Now I think a majority, an overwhelming majority of Democrats agree with me, but this idea that we are going to seize the means of production, just go look at the DSA platform. You don’t have to look any further than that,” Carville said.

Carville also suggested the nation’s political coalitions are entering a period of realignment, with ideological fractures emerging in both the Democratic and Republican parties.

“It may be that the two-party system is just gonna be under tremendous stress here in the coming months,” Carville said. “I mean, you see it with Tucker and Marjorie Taylor Greene on the Republican side.”

“You see it going on right now, and I can’t sit here and tell you for certain how this is going to turn out, but the one thing I can tell you for certain is that Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party. One of us is going to leave, and it might even be me,” Carville said.
