Sen. Ted Cruz: Hunter Biden Plea Deal a Sad Day for the Rule of Law

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) expressed his disappointment with the Justice Department’s plea deal with Hunter Biden, calling it “a sad day for the rule of law.” The deal, announced on Tuesday, pertains to tax crimes and the illegal purchase of a handgun while Biden was a drug user.

Cruz, speaking on Fox News Tonight, criticized the announcement, accusing the DOJ of cronyism, camouflage, and corruption. He argued that the favorable treatment given to Biden was solely due to his last name.

“This does not happen if Hunter’s last name is anything other than Biden,” Cruz stated. “If he’s Hunter Smith, he’s doing hard time. It is only because daddy is president that he gets this sweetheart deal with no jail time whatsoever.”

Cruz went on to describe the plea deal as a camouflage tactic, stating that he had predicted this outcome months ago. He believed that the DOJ’s intention was to appear even-handed by indicting a Biden, while ultimately protecting the Biden family.

“The purpose of this indictment,” Cruz explained, “is for the media to say, ‘It’s all over. Don’t look into ‘the Big Guy.” The evidence of corruption involving Joe Biden personally making millions of dollars is growing, and the Biden Justice Department is doing everything they can to cover up and stonewall.”

Cruz emphasized the need to restore integrity to the DOJ, suggesting that the only way to achieve this is through winning elections and cleaning house at the department.

“The Biden Department of Justice is, I think, the most politicized we’ve ever seen in this country,” Cruz asserted. “Merrick Garland, sadly, is the most political and partisan attorney general we’ve ever seen. When the machinery of government becomes a weapon to attack your political opponents, it becomes a dangerous situation.”

It is clear that Sen. Cruz believes the Hunter Biden plea deal is indicative of corruption within the Biden administration and highlights the need for a fair and unbiased justice system.
