House Republicans advance energy package HR 1 to counter Biden agenda

HKevin McCarthy, Republican of California, announced a major announcement. Energie Thursday legislative package to combat the crisis President Joe Biden Energy agenda and facilitation of greater domestic fossil fuel production.

After the Thursday motion of the committees to bring it to the floor, a vote on HR 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act is expected to take place in the last week. The bill package includes bills to accelerate the federal permitting process, boost U.S. liquid natural gas exports, as well as lower energy costs overall.

“The Lower Energy Costs Act will fast-track American energy production, and includes comprehensive permitting reforms that will speed construction for everything from pipelines to transmission to water infrastructure,” McCarthy made the statement in a statement Thursday night. “And it ensures that the critical minerals needed for advanced technologies come from America — not China.”

Energy legislation will be the first product from multiple Republican-led commissions since the party gained control of the House in the November 20,22 midterm elections.

The House Natural Resources Committee introduced individual bills as part of Thursday’s legislative package. These include the Transparency, Accountability, Permitting and Production or TAPP, American Resources Act, which was introduced by Bruce Westerman (R.A.), who would accelerate federal permitting approvals for federal energy infrastructure and development on federal lands.

The House Energy and Commerce Committee spent a lot of Thursday marking up different parts of the legislation. These included bills that aimed to lower energy costs and prevent the United States becoming “dangerously reliant” China and the building of domestic energy supply chains to ensure energy independence

“We want to lift barriers to expanding our energy supplies, remove red tape over exportation and importation of LNG, and build more pipelines with our North American allies and across the states,” Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Chairwoman of House Energy and Commerce (R-WA), said that the committee was involved in the process.
