Harris calls Trump’s threats against Iran ‘abhorrent’
Former Vice President Kamala Harris criticized Donald Trump’s threats toward Iran as abhorrent, saying the president threatened war crimes and had no plan to end the war. Trump had demanded that Iran “open the Strait of Hormuz” by a deadline, prompting pushback from Democrats who have floated using the 25th amendment to remove him. Harris argued that Trump’s recklessness endangers U.S. service members, damages America’s global standing, and worsens economic conditions, urging opposition to funding the war. The piece notes that more then 30 Democrats are pressing for removal under the 25th Amendment, while Biden had not publicly addressed Iran at the time; analysts offered cautious hope for a deal, though they warned Trump could escalate if no agreement is reached.
Harris calls Trump’s threats against Iran ‘abhorrent’ as ‘no plans’ present to end war
Former Vice President Kamala Harris slammed President Donald Trump’s threats to “commit war crimes” against Iran.
Trump demanded that the Iranian regime “open the f***in’ Strait” of Hormuz or “all Hell will reign down,” setting a deadline of Tuesday at 8 p.m. The president’s threats are drawing major pushback from Democratic lawmakers, calling it “unhinged” as some float using the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.
“The President of the United States is threatening to commit war crimes and wipe out a ‘whole civilization’ — all because he started a disastrous war of his own making and had no plan and no strategy for how to end it,” Harris said on X. “This is abhorrent, and the American people do not support this.”
“Trump’s recklessness is needlessly putting our brave service members in harm’s way, destroying America’s global standing, and making life even more unaffordable for the American people,” Harris said.
Harris concluded her statement by encouraging people to “stand against” the “illegal” war and oppose funding it.
Harris has promoted her book, 107 Days, following her term as vice president and her loss to Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
OVER 30 DEMOCRATS WANT TRUMP REMOVED USING 25TH AMENDMENT OVER IRAN WAR
Former President Joe Biden has not addressed the conflict in Iran on X as of Tuesday afternoon, with his most recent X post commemorating the life of civil rights activist and former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson, who died in February.
Washington Examiner senior columnist Salena Zito said Monday that she “would like to believe” the U.S. and Iran will reach a deal. However, she also thinks Trump will not hold back if no deal is reached before the deadline.
