Graham urges review of US-Pakistan ties after Iranian planes reportedly sheltered
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called for Pakistan’s role in U.S.-Iran negotiations to be reassessed after reports that Pakistan allowed Iranian military aircraft to park on Pakistani airfields, potentially shielding Iranian hardware from U.S.attacks. A senior U.S.official told CBS News that multiple Iranian aircraft, including a reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering plane, were allowed at a Pakistani air force base, while Pakistani officials denied the claim.
Graham said that if the reporting is accurate,it would require a “complete reevaluation” of Pakistan as a mediator and noted he wouldn’t be surprised given prior statements from Pakistani defense officials toward Israel. He has been a prominent supporter of President Donald Trump’s Iran approach, and his backing helped earn him Trump’s endorsement ahead of a June primary.
