GOP launches ad attack against James Talarico

A conservative super PAC, Win It Back PAC, released an ad attacking Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico, compiling excerpts from his earlier posts and campaign speeches alongside commentary criticizing his positions on gender and biology.The ad specifically targets remarks suggesting there are more than two biological sexes,claiming Talarico “fights for 6 genders and all species,” and uses language describing him as “woke” and “unambiguous masculinity.”

Talarico, a Texas House member as 2018, will face Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the general election. His campaign emphasizes issues such as healthcare, corruption and democracy, immigration and border security, and foreign policy. The race is described as competitive: after Paxton’s GOP primary runoff win, reports say Talarico raised $600,000 within hours and polling has shown a close contest, with some analysis shifting the race from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican.”


Win It Back PAC, a conservative super PAC, released an ad torching James Talarico, saying the Texas Democratic Senate nominee “fights for 6 genders and all species.”

The ad is a compiled video of Talarico’s past posts and bits from his campaign speeches with comments calling him a “Texas trailblazer” and referring to him as “he, its, their.”

The ad further criticizes Talarico with comments such as “bearing the cross of white skin and unambiguous masculinity” and “straight from Revelations in the woke James bible,” in response to Talarico’s saying “there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six.”

Talarico, who has served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives since 2018, will face Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the general election.

Talarico’s campaign has focused on key issues including healthcare, corruption and democracy, immigration and border security, and foreign policy.

According to his campaign website, Talarico is running for Senate to take back power for the people and communities, arguing that the political system has been overtaken by “billionaire mega-donors and their puppet politicians.”

Talarico has emerged as a strong candidate in Republican stronghold Texas, as reports show he raised $600,000 within the first two hours of Paxton’s victory over Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in Tuesday’s GOP primary runoff. In addition to his campaign’s strong fundraising, the Cook Political Report has shifted the race from “likely Republican” to “lean Republican” as polls show Talarico and Paxton in a tight race.
